What would you say to the person you were 5 years ago and to the person you will be in 5 years?6/14/2021 What would you say to the person you were 5 years ago?
As we get older and get more experienced, we wish we can turn back time and do some things differently. As we get older, we mature and learn the things that a few years ago we did not, and we wish we did. I am 20 years old right now, therefore five years ago I was 15 years old and I was a teenager. A lot of teenagers want to grow up as fast they can, but that was not the case with me. This is why from the aspect of living in the moment and enjoying the years that I have, which are probably the best years in one’s life, I did everything right and that is something that I am proud of myself of five years ago. However, two big things that I would say to myself when I was 15 are “Always know your worth” and “Your hard work in school will be worth it. But don’t kill yourself with studying. I was the number one tennis player my age in my country. However, I was humble, and yes there is nothing wrong with being humble, but I was way too humble and I did not fight enough for what I deserve, and, in my eyes, there was nothing spectacular being the best in the country. Which form this standpoint that I have right now is a huge success that not a lot of people can have. Anyways, I did not see it as a big thing back then and I would avoid interviews or talk about my results, which was wrong because in that way I would be more exposed to the world and maybe find sponsors because my family could not finance my tournaments completely and it was always a struggle. I let people then are not as good as I was being represented like they are and that is something that I regret. That is why the first thing that I would say is “Always know your worth.” Another thing is that I would study way too much and I would miss out on more fun things because of studying. Yes, school is important, and because of my grades, I came to Marquette but even with a much lower GPA, I would be able to do the same thing. I realize that GPA is not that important the practice is what is important, applying your knowledge. I would not go outside to play with my friends even if my mom would tell me to go, because I thought that I never studied enough, and I need more. Moreover, practicing 6 hours per day and going to school was very exhausting and I believe that my tennis lacked a little bit because of my school as well. Right now, I wished that I did not study as hard and that I used more free time for relaxing and thinking about things that are related to neither tennis nor school. “You do not need to be perfect in everything you do” is something that I would tell myself five years ago. What would you say to the person you’ll be in 5 years? What would I say to a person I will be in five years made me? Pause and think a lot about it. Out of this question, a lot of other questions were raised as well. Whom do I want to be in five years? What will I do in five years? But the only way to know is to let the time show me and not be too concern about it. In the end, everything happens for the reason. Something that I would say to the person that I will become in five years is “Take every chance that is given to you”. Life is short and we can only regret the chances that we did not take. If we fail at least we can say that we tried. I right not, did not use all the chances that I had in life and I do not want that to happen to my future self, because I right now asks myself a lot of times “what if?”. I do not like how this question makes me feel and that is why my future self has to take every chance that is given to her. Another thing is that “It is fine to be selfish sometimes”. I realized that selfish people are the ones that succeed in life. You need to fight for yourself and stand for yourself, nothing is going to be given to you. It is good to care about others and to care, but you have to be in the first place. Always put yourself in the first place because no one else will. “Be surrounded with love”. Love is what matters. Having family and friends and your significant one by your side is what is most important and what will help you grow and go through life. They are the energy that fulfills you to live and help you accomplish everything that you wanted to. Always be there for your loved ones and nothing should come in between that. It is not fun to be alone in today’s world when everyone is focused on themselves. That is something that I will tell myself in five years. And last, “go with the flow”. You cannot plan everything and even if it does not go your way there are always other ways to follow and you need to be ready for it. I am someone who likes to have everything planned and I get caught up if it is not how I planned that it will be. I am scared of the future if I do not know what is coming. But that is more than fine. We cannot plan our life and that is something that a person I will be in five years has to know.

I believe that a lot of you are familiar with this scandal, but I believe that is a very good example of a bad and inappropriate social post by a big company. In October of 2017, Dove released a three-second ad on their U.S. Facebook page that features three women of different ethnicities. The ad was about a woman taking off her shirt to reveal another underneath. The video showed three women individually lifting their shirts and shifting from one to another. A dark-skinned woman pulled up her brown shirt to reveal a white woman in a cream shirt, who then unveiled an Asian woman in a tan tee. By transformation from black to white women reminded people of a beauty advertisement history when racist messages were transferred suggesting that “dirty” people of color could be purified to white with soap. Dove’s message was that their products were for every skin tone, which is one of their missions-to support diversity. However, the message received by the public was different. After screenshots were posted to Twitter of a black woman turning into a white woman, the public’s reaction was disgust and the audience was not happy about the ad. They accused Dove of racism and calling for a boycott. Due to a slow reaction, distrust grew between Dove and its publics, and they have continued to try and rebuild their trust and their image to this day. Even before this scandal, Dove had struggled with a lot of racially-based issues in their ads. In 2011 there was an ad showing dark African American women before and White after. One mistake was acceptable, however, in 2014 Dove’s product was labeled for “normal to dark skin” which causes even more issues since that was the second ad that offended African Americans. In my opinion, this was a post that should have never been posted on social media. For a company big like this it is not acceptable to make a mistake like this. Especially not after the bad history of racially-based issues in their ads. Their troubled history and lack of an appropriate response following this controversy show that the company doesn’t anticipate a crisis before it comes. Dove should have put a team in place to monitor their communications after the first scandal. One of the most important strategies in the public relations industry is the communication between the organization and the organization needs to listen to its stakeholders. Dove failed to incorporate the feedback from its stakeholder groups after the 2011 and 2014 advertisement scandals and that is why another issue came up. Dove did not even apologize appropriately, and they technically accused the audience of being offended. In the world of social media, they had a good chance to communicate with the public in a good way, but they failed in this as well. It is a perfect example of Insincere, “sorry you’re offended” approach which is not helpfull during the crisis. Moreover, if you decide to post an ad like that writes a good description of it that will justify your point. They should have write their values and connected them to the ad. Dove did not write an appropriate caption about the ad and completely unused social media outlets in order to have a successful social media post that will reach the target audience.
Lack of transparency and authenticity within Dove’s actions impacted its perception among audiences and it broken trust. I would love to hear your opinion on this and also read some of your examples about an innapropriate social media posts. Social media is a big part of our lives and everyone should be aware of that when posting. After it goes viral, there is no coming back. I hope that you enjoyed my post! Until next time you can enjoy in this two interesting videos about this ad and learn more about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_F29AJYzkQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkIrbVycAeM What happens on social media stays on google forever. The media is increasingly using social networks for research and promotion. But what ethical and legal issues expect employees in the workplace? Social networks are part of a rapidly evolving social and communications community, and journalists and media outlets need to connect with them as they gather content and reach audiences for their products. Operating in a rapidly changing world, we need to keep in mind ethics as well. For instance, if you are an editor, you should talk to your reporters about how they use social networks and what you think are the standards and issues that are important when working with networks. A good number of companies do not have a rulebook on the use of social networks intended for employees, although a large number of workers are active on the networks. Most of the discussions on this topic are in terms of banning or permitting access to networks, for example, whether using them reduces or increases employee productivity. Opinions are divided, and some simply impose a ban on using Facebook, Twitter, and even social media to focus workers solely on work, while others allow free access without clearly stated rules of performance. Rare are those who clearly emphasize desirable behaviors, the private-business boundary, and what appearance is subject to sanction. I believe that most employers should understand that the younger generations have grown up on the internet and that any form of prohibition can be counterproductive. Also, the proper use of social networks can have very positive effects on the business and image of the company, so employees should be encouraged to use forums, discussion groups, blogs. In any case, clear rules are necessary because it is impossible to blame an employee for a comment that harmed the company’s reputation if the rules were never mentioned or written. In my opinion, social media should be allowed but set with certain rules of use. Until the employees are completing their tasks on time and do not show any sort of distraction, or less productivity, I would argue that the use of social media in the workplace is not a bad thing. Like most things in life, balance is the key. To be fair, employees will probably find a way to access social media even though it is forbidden (mobile phones…). The best way to approach this dilemma would be training for employees to learn how to use social media positively. Tom Ford’s guidelines are the perfect example that provides rules and guides on how the employees from this company should use their social media while communicating online. From this example, I learned that an employee represents a company 24/7. That is why these guidelines are crucial to avoid any unpleasant situations or negative word of mouth about the company that can ruin its publicity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZPbJ1NDqX8https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TXjQt3qYwk Feel free to share your opinion with me! I am more that happy to hear different perspectives about this interesting topic. Until next blog… Serbia is a country of great people, rich history, won and lost wars, falls and highs, scientists, athletes, beautiful landscapes, springs, pastures, mountains, rivers, and everything that makes our culture as it is. Not a lot of people heard about Serbia still, however, mostly because of the sports Serbia is getting the attention that deserves. In addition to the fact that Serbia may not be so much of a media outlet in the world, tourists still find their way to us and tell their friends about a small country in the Balkans with a big heart and a lot of fun. There is a lot of wrong stereotypes about Serbia that are not true and are based only on people’s ignorance. I want to give you five reasons why Serbia should be on your bucket list. Serbia is a country with a very rich and turbulent history. The dynasties that ruled it, such as Karadjordjevic and Obrenovic, left their mark, especially in the west part of the country. Serbia has beautiful churches and museums that are very nice to see and explore. Entire lands of former rulers and their legacies are located all over the country, so wherever you go, you will learn some of its significant historical facts and why it is important to our country. We are proud of our history and going through tons of wars just made us stronger and developed our culture. Serbian cuisine is one of the most beautiful cuisines because of its variety and moderation. There are so many things to try when you find yourself in Serbia. Homemade dishes from our grandmother’s kitchen, the best alcohol drinks, are something that every tourist falls in love with at the first bite or sip. Our food is not GMO, but only homemade, fresh from the villages’ farms. Our cheeses, sour milk, cream, for foreigners are real delicacies that are mostly homemade. One thing is for sure, you will not go from here hungry or thirsty, but with what pounds of excess you probably will so be careful. If you visit Serbia, you can only feel great hospitality. Our people have always been considered a great host and you will not leave empty stomachs and dry throats from here since everything is about food and drinks. We are friendly, very collectivistic culture and family-oriented, always ready to party. We want to welcome everyone and show them as much as we can, tell them as much as we can, and give them as much as possible during our stay in our country because we are proud of our heritage. Everyone should experience a real going out with the Serbs because these are by far the craziest and best outings of every tourist who once went to a club of ours. Since early hours cafes, clubs, rafts or cafes, are always full. Spending time with friends and family is very important in Serbian culture. Staying up until the early hours of the morning and getting home at a time when the elderly are getting up for work is something that only Belgrade can see. Our clubs are great for recharging energy, so don’t be surprised by the fact that someone from the party goes to work. Belgrade is a fast-moving to a new city, so the parties are twenty-four-hour and unreal. Another thing Serbia is known for and worth visiting in Serbia is music or food festivals. Almost every city, every place in our country has its manifestation, even if it is dedicated to food. Novi Sad has the widely known EXIT festival, which attracts a huge number of tourists from all over the world every year and it was announced as the number one festival in Europe in 2018. Belgrade has its Beer Fest; in addition to Beer Fest, several smaller festivals are held in Belgrade throughout the year and each is well worth a visit. A trumpet festival is a very popular one as well as Love Fest in Vrnjacka Banja, a festival of mostly techno and house music. Already, Love Fest can be heard worldwide, and more and more visitors are coming every year. Here are some interesting videos, go check out!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC8oLgxyiYg and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDM2ZTj5BZ4 Thanks for reading my blog, I hope that you learned a little bit more about my culture and my country The danger of the past was that men became slaves. The danger of the future is that men may become robots. The modern way of life is very different from the way of life in the past. The changes came as a result of social and economic but for the most part drastic changes in the sphere of technology. Today’s modern man is almost impossible to live without technological products that we are surrounded by every day. If you look at your day, from the moment you wake up to the time you go to sleep, you will find that you encounter the means of modern technology most of the time.
One part of the technology that gains popularity more and more each day is Artificial Intelligence known as AI. Artificial Intelligence is the development of computer systems, that are able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence can. Can computers think? Will robots and artificial intelligence conquer the world and replace us in the workplace? Should we be afraid of AI and the development of this technology at all? Stereotypes and preconceptions about artificial intelligence have existed since the first computer and they still do. AI becomes a part of our everyday life as well as a part of our workplace. Moreover, it becomes a new trend in the Public Relations industry as well. I got interested in this topic because Artificial Intelligence becomes more popular and there are debates all the time about the topic if robots will replace people in the future? In my opinion, we should not be scared of robots and them replacing us. Instead of thinking that way we should work harder, and focus on combining our work and AI. Let’s face it; robots will never be as a real person, but they will still be able to do different tasks in a faster and more efficient way than a human. Therefore, in my opinion, the combination of people and robots would be a perfect match to bring the PR industry to the next level. An organization can benefit from AI in many different ways. Robots can help us with their ability to use automated writing and generate summaries. However, there must be a human that would proofread the final version of the text. According to Professor Anne Gregory that teaches Corporate Communications: “Using big data combined with psychological profiling to understand what motivates huge proportions of the population can affect the way that organizations and governments communicate with us and we are not even aware of this. The potential for manipulation is huge.” Artificial Intelligence also makes fewer mistakes, does everyday tasks by easy, it can be used by anyone and helps us to explore. All of this would be beneficial for a PR organization. On the other side, there are negative sides to it as well. It costs a lot, causes less employment, lacks creativity and improvement, and it can also be inaccurate. It is on the organization to determine what is their goal and focus on when deciding if they need AI or not. If I was a CEO of a big PR company with enough resources, I would use AI but in a reasonable amount, without reducing the employment of my employees. I would provide them with few robots that can make the organization more productive, more creative, and an easier place to work at. However, it is also not fair to look at AI as a luxury and only a few organizations have it. It should be that everyone has it so that it can be fair game. It is not fair that money determines an organization’s success. It is not fair to people. If there was not us there would not be AI; so why would we switch us for robots? Artificial Intelligence is a new trend in the public relations industry that has its pros and cons but absolutely can bring this industry to another level. The questions that I asked myself after writing this blog are “Is this just one of the new trends in a PR industry, or it is something more than just a trend? Are robots our future?” I believe that Intelligence is knowing what to say; wisdom is knowing when to say it. Here are two very interesting videos about this topic.
